Nollywood actress Ini Edo is in a legal dispute over ownership rights of the Netflix hit Shanty Town with film mogul Chineye Nworah and Giant Creative Media, putting talks for a second season on hold.

Ini Edo warned Netflix on January 15, 2024, to halt negotiations with Nworah and Giant Creative Media. Ini Edo’s lawsuit argues against Nworah’s exclusive rights, citing a 2019 agreement involving herself, Chinenye Nworah, and Joy Odiete, and a 2021 investment agreement involving multiple parties, which entitles Minini Empire Productions and Giant Creative Media to Intellectual Property rights and profits.

Nworah countered Edo’s claims, asserting sole ownership of Shanty Town in a press release on February 22, 2024.
